OK.....so why romance/smut/sexy/erotica books? Well.....let's back up to the summer of 2010......
I joined Netflix, and one of the first things I rented was the TV series from the 80's - Beauty and the Beast. You know, the one with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton. I love both of those actors, but I had never seen that series. So, I watch the whole thing - all three seasons - and yes, it's a bit cheesy at times, but overall.....a good show. But I absolutely freaking hated the way it ended. I mean, there was no "happy ever after"? This was a ROMANCE, for goodness sake! There HAS to be a happy ever after. But nope. And I was left wanting more. SO, I turned to the internet in search of some fan fiction. I was hoping if there was some fanfic out there, it could erase the memories of the horrible ending to a series that I had loved. And sure enough, there was fan fiction. Lots of it. And some of it was quite graphic! Like really reeeeaallllly graphic. And some had pictures. Whoa! I had no idea that kind of stuff existed. (God, I love the internet.) After I had exhausted all of the dirty, smutty, hot beast sex stories I could find, I didn't know where to go from there.
For some reason - reading romance novels never ever occurred to me. I have no idea why. I had never read one, and really, I think I sort of looked down on them. I don't consider myself a literary snob at all, and I wasn't sitting around reading Shakespeare all day long or anything, but romance novels, to me, were low-brow and should be avoided. I tried to read one in college (it was Danielle Steele) and I hated it. So, yea, I never thought of myself as the type of person to read romance novels.
Then one day on Twitter, one of my friends happened to mention reading "paranormal romance" novels. I was intrigued. Granted, I never considered Beauty and the Beast to be "paranormal", but I guess if it involves a half-man/half-beast - that's pretty paranormal. And the lightbulb went off and I thought "Hey - maybe I want to read paranormal romance novels". So, I got a list of a few books.....the Immortals After Dark series....and the rest, they say, is history. Now, it'skind of an obsession.
So, that brings us to the present. I'm obsessed with romance novels. Romance, smut, erotica....however you choose to define it. I love it all. And when you love something, you have to blog about it or it isn't real. Right? Whatever. I'm a geek and I needed a reason to have another blog. So....yea. That's me, in a nutshell.
And by the way - the name? DirtyGeekySexy? Yea. The dirty and sexy refer to the books I read and review. I don't consider myself dirty or sexy. Ok, well maybe I am a little dirty. Sometimes. But I definitely consider myself geeky. So that part of the name is ALL ME.
But wait! There's more! I love lots of other things too. Here's a list, in no particular order:
